CECILIA
ROOS

Hi, I’m Cecilia. I’m co-founding Cherry Tree to help people understand the accuracy and context of information they encounter online, think better about that information, and ultimately make better decisions. Learn more below.

This is my digital garden; a collection of evolving things that I'm building, reading, and enjoying.

A bit about me

For the last 8 years I was focused on building products and leading product teams at EF Hello. Earlier this year I started to transition into AI Safety. I quickly noticed there are relatively few people like me in this space: product background, mid-career, commercial experience. This has led me to start my own thing, Cherry Tree, and to help spread the word about how people with my skills and experience can make a positive contribution to AI Safety. (Ask me about how!)

I’m known for my energy, my laugh, and being a very good listener (unless you’re telling me how gross you think tea is).

I’m curious about people, especially the topics that get them talking.

Often found automating a repetitive task, reading something beautifully written, devising another silly game, or thoughtfully picking a glass of wine to suit my mood and the sky outside.

Cherry Tree

Co-founder · Now

I’m co-founding Cherry Tree to help people understand the accuracy and context of information they encounter online, think better about that information, and ultimately make better decisions.

One way to think about Cherry Tree: Community Notes, but on-demand and anywhere you are on the web, for free. Another way: asking @grok “is this true?” on Twitter, except with replies that are impartial, show reasoning transparency, and have excellent sourcing.

We'll conduct research on how people use Cherry Tree and how that affects their thinking and decision-making. Our findings will directly inform the product development.

EF Hello

Head of Product · 2018–2026

I joined pre-launch at the early stages of designing EF Hello, and went on to lead the team of ten as we grew from zero to more than five million users. Very proud and lucky to have worked with some fantastically talented people, garnered a loving and loyal userbase, and been recognised for the quality of what we created.
